This October, Dallas GiveCamp will be back in full force, aligning the geeks of the world with charities that could use our help. I think it is a wonderful chance for those that enjoy serving to stretch a different set of muscles than most altruistic opportunities afford. Often times, service includes a lot of physical labor, which is of course, a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community, however, what about organizations that require a bit of brainpower to get the ball rolling?
Dallas GiveCamp allows developers, project managers, business analysts, designers, and the likes to come together for a weekend, working alongside the charities, to create something that will aid to the success of the organization. This will be my third year assisting with the event and look forward to connecting with not only the charities, but the other participants that share the same level of excitement of service and technology.
If you’re worried that your skillset won’t fit the bill, no need to worry, as there is a place for everyone for this event! Gathering requirements, planning the implementation, designing the graphics, architecting the site/application, and presenting the final solution in front of the GiveCamp audience all call for various skillsets.
We’ll provide the venue, the food, the drinks, and match you up with a team, as well as a charity. All that we ask is that you come with a willingness to serve and make connections with the charities and participants involved.
